How Shopify theme customization work gets done
Every job starts with collaborator access and a duplicate of your live theme. I work on the unpublished copy, so shoppers never see a half-finished change. You get a preview link to check each piece on your own phone before anything goes live. When you approve, I publish the copy and keep the old theme as a rollback.
Inside the theme I build features as Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks. Each one has settings in the theme editor, so you can change text, images and order without opening code. Details that differ per product, such as size charts or ingredient lists, go into metafields. The product template then pulls the right content for each item. Custom behavior is written in Liquid, JavaScript and CSS inside the theme, and listed in a short handover note.
What a Liquid developer fixes in inherited stores
The most common problem is app stacking. A store installs one app for tabs, one for a sticky cart and one for a size chart. Each adds scripts to every page. Many of these features are a small Liquid section, so I rebuild them in the theme and you cancel the subscriptions. Apps removed long ago often leave code behind, and I clear that out too.
The second problem is edits made on the live theme with no backup and no notes. Theme updates then stall, because nobody knows what was changed. I compare the theme against its original version, list the custom edits, and move them into clearly named sections and snippets. I also find variants set up as separate products, which splits reviews and clutters collection pages. I merge these into proper variants where Shopify's option limits allow.
Figma to Shopify builds and what I need
For a Figma to Shopify build, send the Figma file with desktop and mobile frames, your fonts and your product data. I map each frame to a section and flag anything that fights Shopify's cart or checkout. You get a fixed quote within one business day, and projects start at $599. Can you customize the theme I already bought?
Yes. Send me collaborator access and the changes you want. Most theme customizations are fixed-price and done within a few days.
Do you build Shopify Plus stores?
Yes, including checkout extensibility and B2B features. Larger Plus projects are quoted after a scoping call.
Should I use a Shopify app or custom code for a feature?
Use custom code when the feature is simple and permanent, and an app when it needs its own dashboard or constant updates. Tabs, sticky add to cart bars, size charts and announcement bars are small Liquid sections. Subscriptions, reviews and loyalty programs belong in apps. I tell you which is which before quoting, so you stop paying monthly for things a section can do.
Will I be able to edit the store myself after you finish?
Yes. Everything I build appears in the Shopify theme editor as sections and blocks with plain settings. You can change text, swap images, reorder sections and create new pages from templates without touching code. Per-product content sits in metafields you fill in from the product admin. A short handover note lists each custom section and where its settings live.
Can you work on my live Shopify store without breaking it?
Yes. I never edit the published theme. I duplicate it, make changes on the copy, and send you a preview link to test on desktop and mobile. The live store keeps selling the whole time. After you approve, publishing takes seconds. The previous theme stays in your theme library as a rollback if anything looks wrong.
