How Much Does a Website Redesign Cost in 2026?

Real price ranges for small business website redesigns, what drives the cost up, what you can safely skip, and how to avoid losing your Google rankings in the process.

Most redesign quotes are confusing because they hide what is actually being bought. Here are the real ranges I see and quote, and what moves a project from one bracket to the next.

Typical price ranges

Site type Freelancer Small agency
5 to 8 page business site $1,000 to $3,500 $3,500 to $10,000
10 to 20 page site with blog $2,500 to $6,000 $8,000 to $20,000
Ecommerce store, under 500 products $3,000 to $8,000 $10,000 to $30,000
Landing page only $300 to $1,200 $1,500 to $5,000

The freelancer column is what you pay when you work directly with the person building the site. The agency column includes account management, meetings and margin. The finished site is often the same.

What actually drives the price

Page count and page types. A page that follows a template costs a fraction of a page designed from scratch. Ten service pages on one template cost less than three fully custom pages.

Design from scratch vs adapting. Redesigning around your existing brand and content is cheaper than inventing a new brand as part of the project.

Content. If you supply the copy and images, the price drops. If the developer has to write copy, edit photos and source stock, add 20 to 40 percent.

Integrations. CRM connections, booking systems, payment processing, membership areas and custom forms all add build time.

Migration. Moving platforms, for example from Wix to WordPress or from WordPress to Webflow, adds the work of rebuilding every page and mapping every URL.

SEO preservation. Auditing existing rankings, keeping URLs, writing redirects and re-submitting sitemaps is a separate task. Skipping it is the most expensive mistake in this list.

What you can skip

  • A brand new logo, unless the current one is genuinely a problem.
  • Custom illustrations and animations on every section. One or two well-placed ones do more.
  • Dozens of pages nobody visits. Check analytics and cut what has no traffic.
  • A staged, multi-month discovery process. For a small business site, a one-hour call and a written brief is enough.

What you should not skip

  • Mobile-first layout. More than half your visitors are on phones.
  • Speed. A redesign that loads slower than the old site is a downgrade.
  • Redirects. Every old URL must point to its new equivalent or you lose rankings and backlinks.
  • Tracking. Analytics, conversion events and call tracking set up before launch, not after.
  • A clear call to action on every page. The point of the redesign is more enquiries.

How to keep your rankings

Redesigns lose traffic when URLs change without redirects, page titles get rewritten without thought, or content that ranked gets deleted. Before anything is rebuilt, export your ranking pages from Search Console, decide which URLs stay, and write the redirect map. After launch, watch Search Console for a month. Done properly, traffic goes up after a redesign.

What I charge

The quote includes the redirect map, speed work and 30 days of post-launch fixes. Send me your current site through the contact form and I will tell you what it would cost and how long it would take.

Tell me what you need built.

Send a few lines about the project. You get a fixed price and a timeline within one business day, and no follow-up sequence if it is not a fit.
